On Location: Maya Bay, Phi Phi Le Island

The photographs on this page show some of the efforts the film-makers made in order to protect the natural environment.

This photograph shows the other side of the island where the cast and crew arrived every day. You can clearly see the coral on the sea bed in this picture which of course meant the water was too shallow for big boats. To get around this problem the production team built a walkway on a raised platform which ran along the cliff face and then down to a floating walkway and out to the boats moored in deeper water. This pictures was taken by us on 26th March after the filming had finished.

The walkway which the cast and crew used every day to go between the boats and the island.

Raised platforms were built in order to protect the environment. The picture to the right shows an area flooded by the high tide which was used as the eating area for everyone. (The Nation).

The same area as above, but after the platform had been completed. (Eva3000)

This is a picture we took ourselves to show you that everything has been removed. The area was not damaged as this place is flooded every day by the high tide.
