Photographs and captions by "Friends of Maya", an environmental group in Thailand, September 1999. These photographs will be used in the court case against Fox in November.

The monsoon has eaten away all The Beach's attempt at restoration. The garbage on the beach comes with the seasonal tide - no one can land here during the monsoon. These photos were taken by a strong swimmer from a boat anchored in Loh Samah Bay.

Sticks employed by 'The Beach' to restore the sand dunes, now exposed by the monsoon. Trees and plants are washing away, uprooted, without the protection of real dunes that the film-makers have destroyed.

The edge of the erosion. All "restoration" washed away, now waves eat into and undermine the rest of the dunes. Sticks in foreground placed there by The Beach to stop sand from washing away - now nothing left but the sticks. A local ecologist called these sticks a "laughable attempt" back in December 1998, when they were first tried.
